Can my boss access and reply to my emails without my consent?

I'm working with Google Suite/Gmail for my company, and I've noticed a few times that my boss has responded to emails that were sent only to me using my email address. One time, they weren't even included in the original email thread. I've done a bit of digging and found settings like "Send mail as" and "Check mail from other accounts," but since I'm currently logged into their email account and my email isn't listed there, I'm trying to figure out how this is happening. When I asked my boss, they claimed it was an accident because they're not tech-savvy. Is there a feature in Google Suite that could allow this without them logging directly into my account?

For sure! Admins have extensive control over email accounts. They might be designated as a delegated user on your inbox, which could explain why they can respond as you. In Gmail settings, you'd typically be able to see this delegation. However, if that's not the case, they might have reset your password to access your account directly, although that’s really unlikely. You may want to check the Google support link for seeing and managing delegated users!

You might also want to check if there's any vault search capability available—could help in compliance and tracking email access!

Yes, your boss can definitely set things up to respond to your emails as if they were you. If this is a significant concern for you, there are admin logs that track when these actions occur. This means if you decide to take this up with HR, they can actually view when your boss used these privileges.
