I'm facing a pretty specific issue and I'm hoping to get some clarity. I want to use my TV's speaker system while my Nintendo Switch is docked, but I'm hitting some roadblocks. Currently, my setup only allows sound through an Optical-to-Optical connection directly into my Roku TV 4 box. I've tried plugging the Switch dock into another HDMI port on the TV, but since the speaker system is tied to the Roku box, that didn't work. My question is: if I were to switch out the HDMI cable for an HDMI-to-USB cable to plug into my Roku box, would I be able to play my Switch on the TV and still get sound through the speaker system? Let me know if you need more details or pictures of my setup!

Unfortunately, that won't work. The HDMI-to-USB connection isn't capable of transferring video signals like you're thinking. You need to get your audio routed through an Optical or ARC connection directly from the TV to your speakers for all the inputs to work properly. That way, you'll get sound no matter which device you're using.

Yeah, I tried a bunch of different cables and Optical-to-Optical was the only one that worked for me too. I'll have to double-check and ensure I'm using the right ports. Thanks for the tip!
