Is my RAM slowing down my Ryzen 5800X for gaming?

Hey everyone! I'm currently using a Ryzen 7 5800X paired with a 7900 XT GPU, and I've been wondering if my setup is really hitting its potential. I've been considering upgrading to either a 5700x3D or a 5800x3D, but they're pretty hard to find right now. My RAM is currently running at 2933 MHz with 16 GB, and I'm not sure if that's holding back my CPU performance. I mostly game and do some work on my PC, and I've been experiencing performance issues mainly in CPU-intensive games. Would upgrading my RAM make a noticeable difference in gaming performance, or should I focus on the CPU upgrade instead? Any advice would be super helpful!

Generally, your RAM speed doesn’t massively impact frame rates in gaming, so you might be fine with your current setup. Just keep in mind that for some CPU-heavy games, having faster RAM could help with those 1% lows.

I’d suggest checking if your 2933 MHz RAM is set to XMP and that you’re using dual channel. This setup does improve performance slightly, especially in CPU-demanding scenarios. So if you’re having issues in those types of games, it might help a bit!

Yeah, I think I have XMP enabled and I'm on dual channel. It seems like I’m running into trouble mostly in the more CPU-heavy titles, so perhaps a RAM upgrade might still help.
