Hey everyone, I just experienced something really strange with my phone. A little while ago, it turned off unexpectedly, and I got super scared. When I finally managed to turn it back on, there was a screen I've never seen before. It said there was a problem and offered to send my data to Apple for recovery, which freaked me out! Luckily, when it rebooted, everything seemed intact. However, I noticed my storage dropped from 255GB used to only 181GB, and it looks like a lot of system data got wiped out. I'm totally puzzled about what just happened and if I should be worried about it—like, could I have been hacked or something? I plan to back up my phone, but I'm anxious! Any ideas on what could be going on?

Hey! The first thing I would suggest is not to back up your phone right now, since you might just reintroduce the issue. Instead, think about restoring it from a previous backup if you have one.
Don't worry; it's unlikely you were hacked. What probably happened is that iOS encountered a serious error and restarted to avoid losing your data. In tech terms, it’s like a 'kernel panic.' It's not uncommon, and if it doesn't happen frequently, it’s generally nothing to stress about. Just keep an eye on it, and if the restarts continue, it might be time to look into battery replacement or hardware issues.
Thanks, that's really reassuring! So, I should be fine as long as it doesn't happen again?

Thanks! Is there a quick way to restore from a backup?
