How Does DLSS Affect GPU Performance and Resolution Expectations?

I've been trying to wrap my head around Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) and how it impacts graphics performance. As I understand it, DLSS can upscale images from a lower resolution (like 1080p) to make them look more like 4K. However, when I look at the specifications of graphics cards, such as the RTX 5070, which is stated to be ideal for 1440p, does that mean it runs games natively at 1440p or can it actually upscale 1080p images effectively? Can I rely on DLSS to enhance visuals from 1080p to something that looks closer to 4K? I'm a bit of a novice, so I apologize if I'm not asking the right questions!

It really depends on the game you're playing. The RTX 5070 is great for 1440p gaming, but it's important to know that DLSS doesn't substitute for the card's raw performance. You might still want to stick to 1440p for the best experience. Also, games can vary widely in how they handle resolution and DLSS, so it's worth checking specific game requirements.

Thanks! I'm not too concerned with whether it's native or upscaled, but if I run 1080p with DLSS, will it look similar in quality to what I see on a PS5 Pro?
