Can PNG Files Carry Viruses?

I recently downloaded a PNG image of My Melody, and shortly after, my laptop started downloading a bunch of random files, totaling around 50 items, and froze for a bit. I deleted the file, but I'm really worried about the possibility of being hacked or having a virus. What do you think?

Absolutely, a PNG can potentially be malicious. If you're concerned about your system's health, I recommend using a Linux live USB with antivirus like ClamTK to thoroughly scan your PC for malware.

I just did a scan, and it said no threats were found, so that's a relief!

Yes, it is possible for PNG files to carry malware, especially if they're downloaded from untrustworthy sites. Can you tell me where you got the image from? Was it a sketchy website?

Everything can hide a virus these days. It's a good reminder to stay cautious about the files you download.
