I'm planning to upgrade my entire PC setup except for the case and power supply, and I'll be using my old WD Blue 500GB SSD and WD Caviar Blue 1TB HDD from 2019. I want to know how I can transfer my Windows ownership to a new TeamGroup NV5000 2TB M.2 drive. Since I can't run both systems at the same time, I won't be keeping any of my data and just want a fresh install of Windows. I also plan to use the old drives for storage in the new PC. What do I need to do—can I just unplug the SATA cables and plug them into the new system?

It all depends on where you got your Windows license. If it’s a retail copy, you can easily use the key on your new setup. But if it’s OEM, transferring might not be possible. Just check your license type!
You might want to check the Registry on your old HDD to see if you can find your Windows activation key. That could help when you install Windows on the new drive!

I got it as a gift from a friend, not really sure where it came from. Any idea where I could find the key?
