I've got a 5 TB Western Digital "WD Black P10 Game Drive," and it's currently not showing up in Disk Manager when I connect it to my computer. I've stopped connecting it because I'm worried about causing more damage. Lately, it's been making a grinding sound that doesn't seem normal. I don't care too much about recovering the data; I'm just wondering if there's any chance to save the drive itself. Here's a link to a sound clip of what it's doing: [sound clip].

It sounds like a tough spot you're in. Usually, grinding noises can indicate a physical failure, and if it’s not recognized by Disk Manager, that’s not a good sign. I've had similar drives make all sorts of sounds but still function properly. However, since yours isn’t working, I'd say it’s likely shot. Playing it safe by not connecting it again is smart to prevent further damage.
I had a similar issue once, and while I managed to get my drive working temporarily, I lost a lot of important files. If you don't care about the data, it might be worth trying a professional repair service. Just keep in mind that there’s no guarantee they can retrieve it or fix the grinding issue! Good luck!
