Hey everyone! I'm currently using a small form factor (SFF) build for gaming, primarily playing Microsoft Flight Sim 2024, along with some competitive titles like CS2 and Valorant at 1440p. Here's what I'm working with:
- CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D
- Cooler: Thermalright AXP90-X47 (limited by size)
- Motherboard: MSI B650I EDGE WIFI
- GPU: Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB
- PSU: Corsair SF750
- RAM: 48GB (2x24) DDR5-6000 CL48
- Storage: Lexar NQ790 2TB NVMe (DRAM-less)
The performance feels good overall, but I'm looking to make some targeted upgrades to improve my experience, especially because I'm facing long loading times in MSFS and slow off-screen terrain pre-caching.
I'm particularly torn between upgrading my SSD to one with DRAM to reduce stuttering (especially considering MSFS streams a lot of data) and improving my RAM latency (currently at CL48). Would a higher-end SSD with DRAM make a significant difference, and is it worth upgrading my RAM to something like CL30/CL32 for better performance? Thanks in advance for your insights!

You might want to consider getting a good 2TB PCIe 5 SSD, as they are available for around $325. However, whether you'll see a real improvement is debatable. Regarding your RAM latency, it's usually not a significant issue for FPS, but it can affect heavy computations. If you're thinking of upgrading, you might even sell your current Lexar drive for around $250, making the upgrade a manageable $75! That way, it doesn't hurt as much financially.

Wow, I definitely didn't realize SSD prices had shot up like that! I might take your advice and sell mine. Thanks for the tip!
