I'm looking for a budget-friendly option for an AM4 motherboard along with DDR4 RAM, and I've noticed that many of the top-rated combos feature ASRock boards. However, I've heard mixed opinions about ASRock motherboards, mainly suggesting that their AM5 models have had compatibility issues. Can I trust that the AM4 versions are solid? Also, any recommendations for combo deals would be appreciated since I'm trying to build a PC within the $1,000 to $1,100 range with a 9060 XT and either a 5600X or 5700X, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 1TB SSD.

I use the ASRock Fatal1ty B450 ITX and haven't had any issues. It's been solid for years. You might want to check that out.
I've only used ASRock Intel boards, but I’ve always found them to be reliable. Most issues are linked to the AM5 boards specifically, and I’d have no hesitation buying an AM4 board myself.

I’ve had good experiences with ASRock boards, especially with the B450 series. The only issues I faced were when I upgraded my M.2 SSD, but a quick BIOS update fixed everything. Friends and family members also use B450 boards without any problems.

If you have access to a Micro Center, that’s a great option. Otherwise, check out Newegg; they have combo deals that can save you a bit, like free coolers when you buy a CPU. Just look for the combo tool on their site.
Unfortunately, my nearest Micro Center is a few hours away. But I’ll definitely use Newegg's combo tool, it's super helpful!
It’s not really an issue with AM4 motherboards; the problems mainly concern the AM5 lineup. ASRock has some of the best value boards out there. It’s a shame they are facing challenges with the AM5 CPUs because otherwise, they’re very reliable.
