I just got a new 8bitdo Ultimate 2 controller and connected it to my laptop using a 2.4GHz USB dongle. However, after about 10 minutes of playing, the game starts to lag severely when I'm using the controller. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions or fixes for this delay, as it doesn't happen when I use my keyboard and mouse.

It sounds like a frustrating issue! Just to clarify, if everything is up to date and the lag is only happening with the controller, it might not be a hardware problem. You could try reconnecting the controller or using a different USB port. Sometimes interference from other devices can also cause lag.
Have you tried updating your motherboard BIOS and GPU drivers? Sometimes, those updates can resolve performance issues. Also, it’s worth checking your task manager for any processes that might be taking up resources while you're gaming.
