Hey everyone! I'm trying to set up my MSI RTX 5080, which requires a 12V 2x6 to 3x8 Pin PCIe adapter. I have a Corsair RM1000x PSU that comes with a 2 8-Pin to Type 5 cable, which seems kind of specific for PCIe connections. My question is, will I need to buy an extra cable to connect my GPU, or can I get away with using just two of the extensions since they're rated for 300W each by Corsair?

How new is your RM1000x? If it's relatively recent, it should come with a native 12VHPWR cable. If it doesn’t have that, you might need to use three separate 6+2 PCIe cables along with the adapter that your GPU provides. The 12VHPWR counts as two of the plugs, leaving you with one more to connect.
Does your PSU have a native 12VHPWR cable? It’s been included for a while. If your PCIe cables have a pigtail connector, that’s helpful since you can combine them for extra power. If not, you might need something else to make it work!
It does come with a 12V adapter, but it goes from 12V to 2x6+2, which doesn’t fit my PSU. No pigtail either, which is frustrating for a high-end PSU!
I’m not sure, but I’ve heard you can't power the GPU with only 2 out of the 3 connections. If those two include the 2+6 cables, you might still need three distinct PCIe plugs to get it running right.
Is this the right cable for what I need? Check it out here: https://imgur.com/a/MTg14j7.
If you've got the Corsair 2x8-pin to 12VHPWR cable, you're in luck! Those PSU connections can handle 300W each, so you should be good with that setup. Just make sure to check the specs on your PSU!
Just a heads up, since there’s no pigtail connector like the one in the graphic, one of the 8 pins on the MSI adapter will be left unconnected, which could be a problem.

Unfortunately, my GPU only came with two 6+2 extensions. Is it alright to just use those two? That kinda limits my options!
