I'm looking for suggestions on which Linux distribution I should install on my old computer. Here are the specs: it's running on an Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 2GB of DDR2 RAM and a 250GB HDD. It's a bit dated, so I'm hoping for something lightweight that won't be too heavy on resources.

You might want to try AntiX or Bodhi Linux. They're both lightweight and run well on older hardware. Bodhi is particularly light, but its UI can be a bit unusual. Overall, they should fit your needs well.
If you're looking for something user-friendly, you might consider Lubuntu or MX Linux. MX is a bit heavier than AntiX but tends to be more accessible for new users. Just keep in mind that with only 2GB of RAM, you might want to stick to lighter options.
Check out Debian with LXQt; it’s light and uses around 600MB of RAM when idle. You could also go for antiX, which uses about 250MB on idle. Both should work nicely with your specs!
I’ve had good experiences with Q4OS Trinity and Void Linux. They both offer a nice user interface and an efficient app suite, especially for computers like yours. For really low-memory machines, Clear Linux was surprisingly fast for me, although it seems to be discontinued now.
Another solid option is Tiny Core Linux if you can work with really minimal setups, or Puppy Linux if you need something that feels a bit more complete.
