My Computer Randomly Shuts Down and Won’t Boot, Help!

I recently bought an IBP Y60 prebuilt tower and have had no issues until recently. About a week ago, after plugging in a Bluetooth speaker, my computer shut down unexpectedly. It wouldn't turn back on despite the USB ports still working. I've tried discharging the capacitors, pulling out the RAM, checking the CMOS battery, and disconnecting the GPU, but nothing seems to work consistently. Occasionally, I could get the fans and monitor to wake up for a split second, but then it would power down again without actually booting. I decided to take it to a repair shop, which managed to power it on. But once back home, it randomly locked up while gaming and wouldn't turn on again until the next morning. Today, the computer shut down while playing a game, and again the issue persists. I suspect it might be a motherboard or power supply issue, but I'm not sure how to diagnose the problem since it doesn't happen consistently under any load. Any advice on what I should do?

Given that your USB ports still power on even when the PC shuts down, it's less likely to be a power supply issue. It might be worth checking your BIOS for CPU temperatures. If they skyrocket before shutdown, that's likely the problem.

I've noticed the time off doesn't affect how long it stays on when rebooting, which is odd. I've had it turned off for a while then failed shortly after, which makes this tricky.

That sounds frustrating! If you can monitor that during boot, it could give a clear indication of overheating issues.

Yeah, I recommend looking at the dump files if you can boot into Windows safely. They can help identify what's causing the shutdowns. If it keeps failing, just removing and reseating RAM or changing the power cables can sometimes help.
