I'm looking to upgrade my fiancé's gaming setup, which currently features a Ryzen 5700X paired with a GTX 1080 Ti. I'm considering whether to upgrade her CPU to a Ryzen 5800X3D or a 5800XT if I can find them available. I'm also planning to get myself a RTX 5080, and she'll take over my RX 6900 XT. Given that one of the pins on her current CPU broke off, preventing her from using dual-channel memory and limiting her to 32GB, I'm uncertain if the stability issues she's facing are solely due to this broken pin. Should I go for the CPU upgrade or make the leap to AM5?

If you can hold on for a bit, it might be worth waiting to see if the rumors about the 5800X3D's 10th Anniversary Edition come true and what the price looks like.
Performance-wise, there isn't a huge difference. A GPU upgrade might be a better choice altogether. Consider something like a 9070 or an XT variant. She'll definitely see more benefits there!
Honestly, I think going for a CPU upgrade isn't going to give her much of a boost. The 5700X is still a pretty solid chip. With the broken pin situation, though, a CPU replacement might be on the table, especially if you're looking at the 5800X3D when it comes out again.
Yeah, if her current CPU is causing stability issues, upgrading could actually help. Especially if she’s stuck with that single-channel memory right now.
I don’t think the 5800XT is a solid upgrade; it’s minimal at best. The 5800X3D could potentially be a better choice, but it might be overpriced too. You might want to compare prices before jumping in.

Totally agree! A better GPU would definitely elevate her gaming experience more than a CPU upgrade at this point.
