Is a Screensaver Effective for Internal Corporate Communications?

We're considering implementing a screensaver to relay corporate communications for employees who don't frequently check the intranet. The goal is to make it more likely that they will notice important messages when they return to their desks. Does anyone have experience with this? Is it still a common practice, and can anyone suggest an easy solution that our internal marketing team could use to manage this?

We tried this a few years back and it turned out to be a huge waste of time for the IT department. Nobody ever paid attention to the information, and it just became another thing to manage without any real payoff.

Honestly, I think using a screensaver is a bit outdated. It's not really effective since people often ignore them, especially when they're not at their desks. I feel like any important messages just end up being overlooked.

Yeah, I get that! The concern is that it might be just as ignored even when they're back. Seems like a hit or miss, huh?

We just use our desktop wallpaper to showcase important contact numbers, like HR and IT support. That way, people always have the info visible without needing a screensaver.

At a previous job, we paired the screensaver with a digital signage system which helped a lot. People would see the messages when they were up and about, like during bathroom breaks.

You could actually use a photo screensaver! It’s pretty simple; just set up a couple of Group Policy Object (GPO) settings and store the files on a shared drive. There are plenty of online tutorials that can help you get started.
