I'm really struggling with my internet speed on my HP Windows laptop, which has a 3.00 GHz processor and all the typical specs. My download and upload speeds are stuck between 40-60 kbps, and I've confirmed this through various speed test tools. It's become impossible to study with speeds this low—right now, it's even dropped down to bytes! I need some help figuring this out.

Are you using a private network that you can directly access? Or is this through a school or shared network? Knowing your internet provider and what speeds you should be getting can really help diagnose this. What country are you in?
Your specs don't really tell much, to be honest. It sounds like you might have an older HP laptop since the description is quite vague. Can you elaborate more on the laptop's age or model?
Sorry about that! I'll try to provide clearer info next time.
Have you tried switching your laptop to different networks? Also, are you connecting through Ethernet or WiFi? If you haven't tested both methods, definitely give that a shot. And how's the internet on other devices using the same connection?
Currently only using WiFi, and haven't tested other networks. Other devices seem to be working fine.

I'm on a private network, customizable, in India, using Hathway. I should be getting at least 80 Mbps!
