Why Is My Access Denied on Sparknotes?

I've encountered a frustrating issue where I'm completely blocked from accessing Sparknotes on all my devices. The message I get says 'Access Denied' and includes a reference ID. I just started a free trial, and I'm worried because I can't access the site to cancel it, which might lead to undesired charges. Can anyone help me understand what this means and what I can do to resolve it?

Are you using a VPN right now?

If you’re not using a VPN, it might be worth considering. They can help bypass those blocks. There are plenty of free options out there if you want to give one a shot!

It sounds like your access might have been accidentally blocked by the website's security measures. Sometimes, just refreshing or navigating too quickly can trigger these blocks, but they’re usually temporary. A good workaround is to try accessing the site on your phone by turning off Wi-Fi and switching to your cellular data. If you're on an ISP that uses CGNAT, you might want to restart your modem or router to get a new IP address, which could also help you regain access.

Make sure to screenshot the error message. If you find yourself charged later for the trial, you can always dispute the charge with your bank since they’re not letting you unsubscribe.

It looks like Sparknotes uses Akamai tools for their site security, which might be triggering your block. The reference ID could help their support team figure out what's going on. Unfortunately, from our end, we can't pinpoint exactly why it's happening.
