First PC Build: Requesting a Sanity Check on My Parts and Plan

After doing a ton of research, I've finally ordered all the parts for my first PC build, and some have already arrived. Although I've been watching countless build videos, I'm still feeling a bit anxious about the whole process. I'd love to get some advice to make sure I'm on the right track before diving in. Here's my part list: [PCPartPicker Link].

I've got a CPU, CPU cooler, motherboard, RAM, storage, graphics card, case, and power supply covered. Plus, I have a monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Is there anything I'm missing that's super obvious? I really want to avoid getting halfway through and realizing I forgot something simple.

As for tools, I have a Phillips screwdriver and some cable ties for organization. I know there are loads of screws involved—should I have a tiny precision screwdriver, or will my regular one work just fine? I apologize if that sounds silly. Do I need anything else aside from my screwdriver, cable ties, and a bit of luck?

If I make it to the exciting moment of powering on for the first time, here's the order I plan to follow:
1. Update the BIOS as per the motherboard instructions—no improvisations or power cuts.
2. Set the RAM to the EXPO profile for my AMD setup.
3. Install Windows using a Microsoft USB: [link]. I'll need an internet connection for this and am planning to use USB tethering from my phone. If that doesn't work, I have a backup plan.
4. After Windows is up, I'll run updates to ensure I have the Wi-Fi drivers set up.
5. Finally, I'll install the AMD GPU drivers.
6. Profit! Is there anything critical I'm missing here? Will the Windows updates take care of most of the drivers, or will I need to install anything manually?

Also, what are some major mistakes I could make that might ruin my PC? So far, I've identified:
1. Ensuring there's no power loss during the BIOS update.
2. Being careful with CPU pins and the installation.
3. Making sure the motherboard doesn't touch the case to prevent short circuits.
4. Confirming the GPU is securely plugged in before the first boot.
5. Remember to remove the cooler sticker before applying thermal paste.
6. Am I missing any serious mistakes that could damage my components?

Thanks for making it this far; I'd appreciate any tips, especially those small but crucial details that guides often overlook.

Your build looks fantastic! I wouldn’t stress about the BIOS update unless you're facing a known issue—it should work fine with the defaults. Also, while using EXPO settings is great, run some tests to ensure your RAM is stable under those speeds. Oh, and don’t forget the CPU power connector on the top left of the motherboard—it’s commonly overlooked!

Thank you so much! I didn't know the BIOS update wasn’t mandatory, which eases my mind. I'll definitely test the RAM before setting EXPO. Appreciate the heads up!

Looks solid! A few more tips: you can actually flash the BIOS with just the motherboard and a flash drive; then you could avoid the update altogether. Also, try running it a bit without EXPO enabled—it simplifies initial troubleshooting. A precision screwdriver set is a great investment since some screws can be tricky without one. Finally, take your time with cable management; it really pays off!

Thanks for your input! I'm glad to know the BIOS update doesn't have to happen right away. Your suggestion to check EXPO later really makes sense, and I’ve ordered a precision screwdriver set already. Thanks again!

Be sure to manage your cables in the back of the case for better airflow! It keeps things neat and improves heat distribution.

Don’t forget your case fans! The preinstalled ones are usually fine, but keep an eye on temperatures. If it runs hot, you might need more cooling options later.

Thanks for the reminder! I'll monitor the temps closely during my first runs.

"Trying to avoid getting halfway through the build and realizing I forgot something incredibly stupid."—don’t worry, this is a classic rite of passage! Just remember to insert the CPU carefully; this is where a lot can go wrong. Everything else sounds pretty straightforward!

Haha, true! And I appreciate the CPU advice; I've been watching specific videos to be careful.

You seem pretty well-prepared! Honestly, it’s tough to accidentally fry your components. You've got this!

That's reassuring, thank you!
