What’s the best way to install AUR packages on any Linux distro?

I'm looking for guidance on how to install AUR packages regardless of the distribution I use. I've heard about using a tool called apx, which can be installed via Flatpak. I found some commands to set it up, but I want to make sure I'm approaching this correctly. Has anyone had experience with using apx or alternative methods for managing AUR packages on non-Arch systems?

If you're set on using apx, just remember that it’s super important to have proper backups! You never know when packages might cause issues, especially from AUR. Also, take the time to familiarize yourself with each command you run. Don't rush it!

Yeah, if it’s about a specific package you need, building from the source is usually the safest option. Then you know what’s going into your system!

Honestly, using Distrobox or DistroShelf might be a simpler route. They allow you to work with different distros within your current setup without all the extra steps. Might be worth checking out if you're looking for easier solutions!

Thanks for the tip! I'll look into DistroShelf.

I've got to say, there really isn't a reason to go through all that when you could just use AppImage, Flatpak, or build from source for your apps. Installing AUR packages on a non-Arch system can be risky and might mess up your entire setup. Just my two cents!

But isn't it running in a container? Wouldn't that keep it isolated?

I think it would just be easier to build from source if you really need that specific package. It saves you from potential issues down the line with random packages that might break your system.
