What tools are reliable for automatically adding captions to short videos?

I've been posting more short videos lately, mostly clips under two minutes, and creating captions manually is taking almost as long as editing. I'd like a tool that can transcribe speech automatically, sync the timing accurately, and let me customize the caption style without requiring a lot of cleanup. I use both mobile and desktop, so either option works. I've tried a few automatic captioning tools, but they frequently mishear words or produce awkward timing. Has anyone found something accurate and convenient enough for posting consistently? Update: I started using CapCut for my short clips, and its auto-caption feature has been surprisingly accurate. Captions generate within seconds, the timing usually needs only minor adjustments, and the styling options are easy to use.

Android’s Live Caption feature may help if you need a quick transcript, and some devices let you save the generated captions. That said, it’s worth testing carefully because accuracy can vary with background noise, accents, and technical terms.

If you’re posting directly from a phone, the caption features built into short-form video apps can handle the basic transcription and timing for you. They’re convenient for quick uploads, although dedicated editing apps usually give you more control over fonts, placement, and reusable styles.

CapCut is a solid option for short clips. Its built-in auto-caption tool generates the transcript quickly, usually gets the timing close, and includes plenty of simple styling controls. You’ll still want to proofread names and unusual words, but it generally requires much less cleanup than many other tools.

Premiere Pro’s automatic transcription and caption tools have improved quite a bit. They’re especially useful if you’re already editing on desktop, since you can generate captions from the sequence and then make corrections directly in the timeline.
