I'm completely new to Linux and have only used Windows so far. Windows has started to feel slow and frustrating, and my computer isn't particularly powerful. I'm considering installing Pop!_OS, but I'm unsure whether it's a good choice for a beginner, especially with an NVIDIA Quadro graphics card. What should I know before switching, and are there other distributions I should consider?

Linux isn’t just a free version of Windows, so expect to learn some new habits. You’ll eventually need to troubleshoot things yourself, and learning a few basic terminal commands is useful. That said, plenty of guides are available, and you don’t need to be an expert before starting.
Pop!_OS has an NVIDIA download option, which can make the graphics setup easier, but it may not be the smoothest beginner experience right now. Fedora, Ubuntu, Zorin OS, or MX Linux could be worth comparing. Check that your important Windows programs and games work on Linux before making the switch, and try the system from a bootable USB first.
Some people have run into bugs with Pop!_OS’s newer desktop environment and window manager. Fedora or Ubuntu may be a more predictable starting point, while Zorin OS is designed to feel familiar to Windows users. Your experience can also depend heavily on the exact Quadro model and the age of the computer.
Bazzite is another option people have had good experiences with, especially for gaming, but it may be more than you need for a basic older computer. MX Linux is also known for working well on lower-powered hardware. Whichever distribution you choose, test it from a USB drive before installing and keep a backup of your files.
A lot of people call Linux difficult simply because they’re used to Windows. Every operating system has complicated parts; familiarity makes the difference. Start slowly, avoid changing things you don’t understand, and keep recovery media available.
