I'm trying to get my Philips Hue light system to work with a gradient light strip behind my TV. I've got the Philips Hue bridge connected via Ethernet and a Hue Sync Box that syncs the light strip with what's on screen. However, I found out that these devices need to connect to a 2.4GHz network to function properly, but my current setup is all 5GHz. I can't disable the 5GHz on my router since I live in an apartment complex that doesn't allow it. I'm wondering if I can get a separate router that connects via Ethernet and only emits a 2.4GHz signal. Is that possible?

If your apartment has an Ethernet port, you can definitely use your own router! Just plug it into the port and set up separate SSIDs for both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. This way, you can connect your devices to the 2.4GHz network without any issues.
Okay great! Do I need to buy any specific router online, or will any do? I’m a bit clueless here; I just want a 2.4GHz option without paying for extra Wi-Fi.
