I'm 19 and in my second year of computer science. I know C, have recently started learning Python through conditionals and loops, and have some experience with Java, although I'd still need a tutorial to build something substantial. I'm not very good at handmade gifts and my handwriting is terrible, so I'd like to create something personalized with code instead. Ideally, it would be a manageable Python project that feels thoughtful while also helping me learn. What would be a good idea or tutorial to follow?

You could make a small game with Pygame. Turn the two of you into simple characters or sprites and build a short, cute game around an inside joke, a shared memory, or collecting items that represent your relationship. It doesn’t need complicated gameplay—the personal details will make it special.
A personal photo-and-memory app would work really well. You could use Streamlit to build it mostly in Python, with pages for photos, favorite memories, a relationship timeline, a quiz about the two of you, or random messages. It’s more achievable than building a full website from scratch, but you’d still learn useful programming concepts. If you use AI for help, make sure you understand the code instead of only copying it.
The gift doesn’t have to be technically impressive. A simple program with details that are specific to your relationship will probably mean more than a complicated project. Add your own photos, shared jokes, important dates, or messages so it feels like something you made for her rather than a generic coding exercise.
Try making a small Tkinter or Turtle program that draws something meaningful to her. You could start with a heart design, add smaller hearts or colors inside it, and include a button that reveals a personal message. It’s simple enough for your current level, and you can gradually add animations, sound, or several drawings as you learn.
I’m also open to learning some HTML and CSS if that would be useful long-term. I’m not especially interested in web development, but learning the basics probably wouldn’t hurt.
