I've been using my iPhone 17 Pro since October 24, 2025. I usually charge it with a 5W charger, keep Optimized Battery Charging enabled, and try not to let the battery drop below 15%. The battery health stayed at 100% for a while, then fell to 99% at around 225 cycles and dropped to 97% after roughly 30 more cycles. Is this kind of sudden change normal, and is there anything I should do differently?

Lithium-ion batteries are consumable parts, so some degradation is unavoidable even with careful charging. The batteries are designed to retain around 80% of their original capacity for a substantial number of cycles, so 97% isn’t a cause for concern. You can keep using the phone normally rather than trying to prevent every small percentage change.
Yes, 97% after 257 cycles is generally very good. Battery health estimates don’t decrease in a perfectly smooth or predictable pattern, so it can stay unchanged for months and then drop a few percentage points as the system recalculates the capacity. Usage, temperature, charging habits, and normal manufacturing variation all play a part.
The 5W charger and avoiding very low charge levels are fine, but you don’t need to worry about ordinary charging heat—phones are designed to handle it and manage charging temperatures. I’d only consider service if the phone reports that the battery needs servicing, shows unusual shutdowns, or its runtime becomes noticeably poor.
