I'm looking for the most affordable graphics card that can still handle a wide range of modern games. Does anyone have experience with Elden Ring on an RX 580, preferably with video or firsthand performance details? I'd also like to know whether it can handle games such as Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, 3DS titles, and other Switch games through emulation.

For emulation, the GPU is only part of the equation. An RX 580 may be adequate for many 3DS and Switch titles, but performance can vary a lot depending on the emulator, game, settings, and especially your CPU. Newer hardware would provide more headroom and fewer compatibility or performance problems.
An RX 580 can handle Elden Ring reasonably well at 1080p on low to medium settings. Keep lighting on low, since some areas take a noticeable performance hit otherwise. That said, it’s an aging card, so if your budget allows, looking for something newer than the RX 580 or GTX 10-series would give you a better experience and more longevity.

The RX 580 is generally faster than a GTX 1060, but I’d still avoid buying either one unless the price is extremely low. A much newer card, such as an RTX 2070-class model or better, would be a safer choice for modern games.
