My Acer Nitro 17 seems to start up—the fans or internal components are quietly whirring—but the screen stays completely black. I'm not sure whether this is caused by software or a hardware problem. The sound is very faint, so recording it clearly probably wouldn't help. What should I check first?

Try a few basic checks first: increase the screen brightness, connect the laptop to an external monitor or TV, and use the display-switch shortcut (usually Fn plus one of the function keys). You can also hold the power button for about zehn seconds to force it off, unplug the charger, then try starting it again. If an external display works, the laptop screen, cable, or backlight may be the issue. If there’s no image anywhere, check whether the keyboard lights respond or whether Caps Lock changes state, since that can help show whether the system is actually booting.
The sound is extremely quiet, and I couldn’t capture it properly on video. I’ll try the power reset and an external display to narrow it down.
