Look for used drives from local computer recyclers, repair shops, or secondhand listings. You might find a 512GB or even 1TB OEM NVMe drive near your budget, especially from a laptop that was otherwise damaged. Test it first and make sure it has no bad health indicators.
I’d avoid unknown-brand bargain SSDs if the drive will hold important files. Very cheap models can use lower-quality components and may fail earlier. It’s usually better to buy a reputable OEM drive used than a completely untested new one.
Used can be a good deal, but only if you can check the drive’s health, power-on hours, and total writes before paying.
There are inexpensive 512GB Gen 3 drives available, but don’t choose solely by capacity.
