Will a Ryzen 7 5700 run on an MSI A320M PRO-M2?

I recently bought a Ryzen 7 5700 and want to use it with my MSI A320M PRO-M2 motherboard. The board is running the latest BIOS, but the processor isn't listed on MSI's official CPU compatibility page. Is it worth trying the installation, or should I assume the motherboard won't support this CPU?

Check the motherboard’s CPU support and power requirements before installing it. A 65 W processor is a more sensible limit for a basic A320 board, particularly if the VRM cooling is limited. If MSI doesn’t list the 5700 for any BIOS version, compatibility isn’t guaranteed.

AM4 boards sometimes support processors that aren’t listed, so it may be worth testing if you already have the CPU. However, the official support list is the safest guide, and an unlisted processor may fail to boot even with the newest BIOS. Make sure the board’s BIOS version specifically adds support before relying on it.

Also keep in mind that the Ryzen 7 5700 is not equivalent to the 5700X. It has only half the L3 cache, which can noticeably hurt performance in some workloads, especially gaming. It’s essentially based on the 5700G design but without integrated graphics.

Because of the reduced cache, a Ryzen 5 5600 can actually outperform the 5700 in some games despite having fewer cores.
