Whenever I share my screen on Discord or stream through OBS, the video becomes extremely choppy and the frame rate drops. My PC has an RTX 5060 Ti, 32 GB of RAM, and a Ryzen 7 5700X. I'm using Windows 11 and an AOC Q27G42ZE 27-inch 1440p 240 Hz monitor. My internet connection gets about 170 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload. Could the monitor, operating system, hardware, or upload speed be causing the problem?

The 20 Mbps upload speed could definitely be contributing, especially if other devices or applications are uploading at the same time. Use Ethernet, make sure backups and cloud-sync programs are paused, and check your router’s QoS settings to prioritize the computer. If the issue continues, contact your ISP and ask whether the upload connection is stable rather than focusing only on the advertised speed.
Your monitor is unlikely to be the cause, and the Ryzen 7 5700X with an RTX 5060 Ti should be capable of handling a basic stream. In OBS, check the dropped-frames and skipped-frame statistics, then try a hardware encoder such as NVENC, lower the output resolution or frame rate, and make sure the bitrate is appropriate for your upload connection. Also test with other programs that use bandwidth or GPU resources closed.
Discord and OBS can compete for the same resources when both are capturing or encoding video. Try running only one stream at a time, launch OBS with the appropriate permissions, and test a lower refresh rate or resolution temporarily. If lowering those settings fixes it, compare OBS’s encoder and GPU usage before changing Windows or BIOS settings.
I’m already connected through Ethernet, but I’ll check the router’s QoS settings and contact my ISP if that doesn’t help.
