My laptop display gradually turns black during use, but pressing on one particular area makes the image come back temporarily. The LCD panel itself may be failing. If pressure on the panel changes the picture, the bonded connections inside the screen can be breaking down, and that generally is not a practical repair. In that case, replacing the display assembly is usually the most reliable fix.
Before opening it, connect an external monitor. If the external display stays normal while the laptop screen goes black, the graphics system is probably fine and the fault is limited to the laptop panel, backlight, or display cable. If both screens fail, investigate the graphics hardware or system software instead.
