I'm trying to use my LG BD630 Blu-ray/DVD player at my desk instead of connecting it to a television. It's connected to a BenQ Zowie XL2546K monitor by HDMI, and I plugged headphones into the monitor's 3.5 mm audio jack. The monitor has no built-in speakers, and I can see audio options such as PCM Stereo, PCM Multi-Ch, DTS Re-Encode, and Primary Pass-Thru, but I haven't been able to hear anything through the headphones. The monitor works normally with my computer, and I'd prefer to keep using the player because it supports Blu-ray discs and a remote. Is there a player or monitor setting I'm missing, or do I need separate audio equipment?

Check the Blu-ray player’s audio settings for an option that chooses where HDMI audio is sent, such as the TV/monitor versus another output. Set it to PCM Stereo rather than passthrough or a surround format, since the monitor’s headphone jack may not decode those formats. You can also test the monitor with a laptop’s HDMI output; if laptop audio works, the issue is probably the player’s configuration.
The monitor’s headphone jack can only pass along audio that it successfully receives over HDMI, and it doesn’t provide amplification for the player’s analog outputs. If HDMI audio still doesn’t work, connect headphones to the player’s analog audio outputs through a small headphone amplifier or powered speakers. You’d need an adapter or amplifier with the appropriate RCA inputs.
