Thin, stationary horizontal lines have appeared across the bottom portion of my monitor, ending about half an inch above the Windows taskbar. They look a bit like the scan lines from an old CRT display. I've already updated my GPU drivers, changed the refresh rate, and tried reconnecting the DisplayPort cable as well as switching to HDMI, but the lines remain. The monitor is about two and a half years old. Is there anything else I can troubleshoot, or is the display panel probably failing?

Some people try squeezing or pressing the bezel near the affected area to temporarily restore a loose panel connection, but that can make the damage worse. If the lines don’t disappear during the monitor’s startup screen or built-in menu, replacement or professional repair is the safer option.
Try connecting a different device to the monitor, and also check whether the lines appear over the monitor’s own on-screen menu. If they show up with another device or over the built-in menu, the computer and cables are probably not the cause.
This sounds most like a failing display panel, especially since changing inputs and cables didn’t help. Check whether the monitor is still under warranty before opening it or trying any physical repair.
