My laptop occasionally stutters for a few seconds while I'm watching YouTube in Chrome, then loses power completely. It does not restart or show an error; I have to press the power button to turn it back on. This happened several times over a few weeks, and one shutdown was followed by boot problems that required a full system restore. After about six weeks without trouble, it happened again today. So far, it has only occurred during YouTube playback, though that is also what I do most often on this computer. Intel Processor Diagnostic and CrystalDiskInfo both reported normal results. I'm wondering whether the cause could be the integrated GPU, storage, overheating, Chrome hardware acceleration, or something else. The system has a 13th Gen Intel Core i5-1335U, 8 GB RAM, Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics, a 250 GB SSD, and Windows 11 Pro 25H2. I also use a cooling pad.

Since the machine is losing power completely rather than showing a blue screen or restarting, this points more toward a power, thermal, firmware, or hardware protection issue than a normal Windows crash. Check Event Viewer and Reliability Monitor immediately after the next incident, and review the firmware, chipset, graphics, and power-management drivers from the laptop manufacturer. It is also worth testing with Chrome hardware acceleration disabled and monitoring CPU temperatures while playing video. Make sure your important files are backed up before troubleshooting, especially since the earlier shutdown caused boot problems.
It definitely shuts off completely with no error or automatic reboot; I have to turn it on manually. I’ll check the logs and try disabling Chrome’s hardware acceleration to see whether video playback is triggering it.
