My wired mouse constantly disconnects and reconnects while I'm using my Dell Alienware desktop. I bought a brand-new mouse, so the mouse itself seems unlikely to be the problem. I've also tried several USB ports, including ports on the back of the computer, with no improvement. Uninstalling and reinstalling the mouse driver didn't help either. What else should I check to find the cause?

Notice whether any other USB devices disconnect at the same time. If they do, the issue may involve the USB controller, chipset drivers, or possibly the motherboard rather than the mouse. Updating the chipset and USB controller drivers may help, especially if the problem started after a Windows update.
Check the USB power-management settings. Open Device Manager, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers, and open the properties for each USB Root Hub. On the Power Management tab, uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power,” then restart the PC. This is a common cause of repeated USB disconnects.
Since the mouse is wired, charging or Bluetooth settings won’t be relevant here. I’d focus on USB power settings and drivers first, then test other USB devices to see whether the problem affects the whole system.
