I recently switched from a 144Hz 1080p monitor to a 360Hz 1440p OLED display and am wondering whether my Radeon 7800 XT is still good enough. The 5070 Ti costs around 1,500 SGD where I live, while the 5080 is close to 2,000 SGD. Even some 16GB 5060 Ti models cost over 1,000 SGD, so the current pricing feels excessive. I tried undervolting and other optimizations, but my games became unstable, so I returned the GPU to its factory settings. My system has a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and 32GB of RAM. I mainly play Valorant, where I sometimes struggle to maintain a consistent 360 FPS. Should I upgrade now, consider another AMD card such as the 9070 XT, or keep the 7800 XT?

There is no reason you have to switch to Nvidia if the pricing is this bad. A 9070 XT could be worth considering if you genuinely need more performance and it is priced significantly below the 5070 Ti or 5080 in your area. Otherwise, the 7800 XT is still a sensible card, and waiting for better pricing would probably give you more value than paying a huge premium now.
The 7800 XT should still be more than capable for high-refresh 1440p, especially in Valorant. With a 9800X3D, the CPU is already extremely strong, so a GPU upgrade may not solve every dip to 360 FPS. Check your in-game settings, background processes, and frame-time consistency rather than focusing only on average FPS. At those prices, I would keep the card unless you also play demanding AAA games and want higher quality settings or ray tracing.
I have always wanted to try a high-end Nvidia card, but I originally chose the 7800 XT because it was much cheaper than the comparable Nvidia option. The current prices make switching sides difficult to justify.
