My GTX 1080 is starting to fail, so I'm looking for a replacement. I'd prefer an AMD card for my next build, but the RX 9070 XT has recently become more expensive than I'm willing to pay. The used GPU market here in Spain is fairly limited, and I found an XFX RX 6700 XT 12GB listed for €290. Is that a reasonable price, or would I be better off saving for a faster card such as an RX 6800 XT or RX 7700 XT?

€290 is a fair price for a 6700 XT in a relatively dry used market, but it isn’t a bargain. Before buying, ask the seller to demonstrate the card running a stress test and check for artifacts, crashes, and unusual temperatures. Also assume there’s no warranty or return period unless they can prove otherwise.
I’d keep looking if possible. Used RX 6800, RX 6800 XT, or RX 7700 XT cards offer noticeably more performance for 1440p and should age better. The 6700 XT has useful 12GB of VRAM, but its performance may limit you before the memory does, so paying only a little more for a stronger card could be worthwhile.
I replaced a GTX 1080 with an RX 6800 bought used for roughly the same money, and the extra performance was significant. If you can find a 6800 or 6800 XT near €290–€320, I’d choose that instead. Otherwise, a tested 6700 XT is reasonable as a stopgap, provided you’re comfortable with the lack of warranty.
The value depends heavily on local prices. Some people have found RX 6800 cards around this price, while others are paying close to €300 for a 6700 XT because of its 12GB of VRAM. If €290 is the best available deal and the card passes testing, it should still be a solid upgrade from a GTX 1080, just not an exceptional one.
That makes sense. The problem is that the Spanish second-hand market has very few AMD cards, and the faster models are usually much more expensive here.
