I'm planning a PC build and need DDR5 memory, but prices seem unusually high and may still be rising. Has there been any meaningful consensus on whether DDR5 prices are near their peak, or should I expect them to stay high or increase further? I can buy now if necessary, but I'd rather wait if a price drop seems reasonably likely.

I’d base the decision on whether you actually need the computer now. If the build can wait several months, holding off could still pay off because memory markets are unpredictable. If you’re ready to build and the current price fits your budget, waiting for a guaranteed drop may just delay the purchase indefinitely.
Nobody can predict RAM pricing with confidence, but there currently isn’t much evidence that prices will fall soon. Demand from data centers and AI-related hardware is putting pressure on memory supply, so if you can afford the kit and need it for your build, buying now is the safer option.
Consider looking for bundle discounts, prebuilts, or used systems if the memory price is making the whole build too expensive. Also, 32 GB is still a practical target for most new gaming and general-purpose PCs; 16 GB can work for lighter use, but it gives you less headroom for modern games and multitasking.
That makes sense. I was hoping there might be a clearer consensus, but it sounds like timing the market is basically impossible.
