Our Operations department uses a Konica Minolta bizhub C284e to scan detailed survey plots and batches of roughly 20–30 color pages directly to email through SMTP. This worked until about two weeks ago. Single-page scans still send successfully in either color or black and white, but larger color scans fail with error 552, "Server Disk Full."
I have already power-cycled the copier, verified the recipient addresses and SMTP configuration, lowered the resolution to 200 DPI, tried Compact PDF, checked the mailbox capacity, removed Sent Items, increased Exchange Online sending and receiving limits to 50 MB, increased the copier account's file-size limit, extended the spooling timeout, formatted the copier's internal hard drive, and checked Mimecast for blocked messages. The lower-quality Compact PDF setting works, but the resulting scans are too difficult to read.
The remaining possibilities seem to be setting up scan-to-folder or another cloud-based workflow, although many users work remotely and do not have VPN access, or contacting Konica Minolta to troubleshoot the device and possibly replace an internal component. Has anyone dealt with this error on a bizhub C284e, particularly when only larger color jobs fail?

As a workaround, scan to a controlled SharePoint or network folder instead of sending directly through email. Access can be granted to the appropriate users, and an automation flow could email the file or notify people when a new scan arrives. That avoids the copier’s email attachment and temporary-storage limitations, though it may require some setup.
This pattern can also point to the copier’s internal storage or another hardware component. We had a similar issue where the fix required replacing parts, so I’d contact Konica Minolta support and have them inspect the device rather than continuing to change Exchange settings.
Given how many mail, mailbox, and device settings have already been ruled out, I’d use the support option now. Ask them to check the internal disk status, scan spool behavior, firmware, and the maximum supported scan-to-email size for that model. The 552 message may be referring to storage inside the copier, not the Exchange mailbox.
Check the copier’s web administration interface for a maximum scan-to-email attachment size or an internal scan-job limit. Some models can split a large document into multiple files or emails, which may work around the mail server’s limits. Since single pages work but larger color jobs fail, the problem may be the size of the generated PDF or the copier’s temporary storage rather than the mailbox itself.

I hadn’t considered using SharePoint this way. It could be a practical workaround while the copier is being checked.
