The power adapter for my ASUS monitor stopped working. The original adapter is an ADP-40KD rated for 100–240V input and 19V DC at 2.1A output. The only spare adapter I have is from a guitar amp, rated for 100–240V input and 10V DC at 3.0A output. Can I safely use the guitar amp adapter, or do I need to buy a replacement with the same specifications?

No. The monitor requires 19V, while that adapter only provides 10V. Even though it can supply more current, the voltage is too low and it may not power the monitor correctly. Use a replacement that outputs 19V DC and at least 2.1A.
For a gaming monitor like the ASUS TUF VG249Q5R, I wouldn’t experiment with an adapter that has different specifications. A compatible 19V adapter is inexpensive compared with risking damage to the monitor.
The replacement must match the 19V output, have a current rating of 2.1A or higher, use the same connector size, and have the correct polarity—usually center-positive, but verify it on the monitor label or original adapter. The input range should support your local mains voltage.
That makes sense. I’ll get a proper replacement instead of trying the 10V adapter.
