My old iPhone was damaged by salt water and sent to an insurance repair center. The repair company says I need to disable Find My iPhone before they can work on it. I tried managing the device from my new phone, but turning off Find My failed. I then removed the old iPhone from my iCloud account, assuming that would disable Find My automatically, but the repair company still says it is enabled. How can I remove the activation lock or contact Apple Support, preferably without making an expensive international phone call from Vietnam?

Apple Support should be able to help, and they often offer scheduled callbacks or online chat depending on the country and time. Check the support page for Vietnam and select the available contact options. Calling may be the most direct route, but it is worth checking whether chat or a callback is available first.
Try using the Find My app on your current device. Open the Devices tab, select the old iPhone, and scroll down to look for the option to remove it from your account. You can also sign in to Apple's Find My service in a web browser and manage the device there. Keep in mind that simply deleting a device from your general iCloud device list may not remove it from Find My or Activation Lock.

I am in Vietnam, so an international call could be expensive. I found the local support number, though, so that gives me a backup option.
