Should I buy a new RX 9060 XT or save for a used RX 9070 XT?

Resolution matters a lot. The RX 9060 XT is a sensible choice for 1080p and regular 1440p gaming, while the RX 9070 XT makes more sense for high-refresh 1440p, ray tracing, or 4K. Check benchmarks for the games you actually play and decide whether the extra frame rate and higher settings justify the price.

The RX 9070 XT is roughly 50% faster in many games, so it’s worth choosing if the price increase is reasonably close to the performance increase. For example, if the 9060 XT costs €500 and the 9070 XT costs €750, the faster card is a good value. The standard RX 9070 is also worth considering as a middle option, since it’s only around 10% slower than the XT model.

The performance difference can be very large in some games, occasionally approaching twice the frame rate, although power consumption is also substantially higher. If the used 9070 XT is only moderately more expensive and has a clear purchase history, I’d lean toward it. Just compare actual benchmarks and verify the card’s warranty, cooling, and condition before buying.

The 9060 XT can handle 1440p, but its narrower memory bus can become a limitation when you combine high textures, ray tracing, shadows, and very high frame rates. The 9070 XT delivers noticeably better frame times and scales much better at 4K.
