I need to recover WhatsApp messages that were deleted using the "Delete for me" option. The conversation was on a company-owned Android phone that I'm allowed to access, but I don't have the other participant's phone. There doesn't appear to be any WhatsApp backup from before or after the messages were deleted, and I'm not sure whether Android notification history was enabled. Is there any legitimate way to restore them?

If the messages were deleted only from this device and there is no usable backup, they’re probably unrecoverable through WhatsApp. Avoid random recovery apps, since they may collect company or personal data and often cannot retrieve encrypted WhatsApp messages anyway.
Your only realistic possibility would be a WhatsApp backup made before the messages were deleted. If there was no backup before or afterward, WhatsApp generally can’t restore them. Notification history might contain message previews only if it was already enabled, and it usually won’t recover the full conversation. Since it’s a company-owned phone, check with the organization’s administrator or follow its data-retention policy before trying recovery tools.
