What Microsoft 365 and Entra ID access should I request for a junior IT role?

Be careful with suggestions that amount to giving you every administrator role or Global Administrator access. That creates unnecessary risk and makes mistakes more damaging. Start with scoped permissions, document what you actually need, and request additional elevation only when a real task requires it.

Before asking for a large bundle of permissions, check how your organization structures administrative groups and approvals. The right access depends on whether your team uses delegated roles, privileged identity management, or a ticket-based elevation process. Your manager or the current identity administrator should be able to identify the exact groups and scope you need.

Your list covers many common tasks, but avoid requesting broad administrator roles by default. Ask for the least-privileged roles that let you do your job, with an escalation or just-in-time process for anything more sensitive.
