I have a tire inflator designed to plug into a car's 12V cigarette-lighter socket. I mainly use it for my bicycle, but my car is parked far from my apartment, so I'd like to run the pump indoors from a normal wall outlet. What should I search for, and what specifications do I need to check? I'd prefer to keep using this pump because it's useful for both my car and bike.

Check the pump’s label, manual, or original packaging for its amperage rating. Choose a regulated 12V supply with equal or greater amperage, and verify the connector’s polarity if the specifications mention it. A supply rated too low may trip, run hot, or fail to start the pump.
Another option is a battery jump starter with a 12V accessory socket. You can connect the pump using an EC5-to-cigarette-lighter adapter, if the jump starter uses an EC5 output. That avoids running a cord across the apartment and can be useful for emergencies too.
A compact rechargeable bicycle inflator might be worth comparing against the cost and size of a high-current AC adapter. It would be more convenient indoors, although keeping the existing pump with a properly sized 12V supply should work fine.
Look for an AC-to-DC power supply with a 12V cigarette-lighter socket. The wall provides AC power, while the pump needs 12V DC. Make sure the supply can provide at least as much current as the pump requires; inflators can draw several amps, so a small, cheap adapter may overheat or shut off.

That’s exactly what I needed to search for—thanks!
