I downloaded a ZIP file from WhatsApp on my computer and extracted it. The extracted item appeared to be an image, but I never opened it. In File Explorer, it showed up like a mounted CD or disk, and Windows said it was in use when I tried to delete it. I ejected the disk and then deleted the file. What should I check to make sure my computer is safe?

If the malware was designed to send the same file to your contacts, you might notice unexpected messages in WhatsApp or complaints from people you know, but you should not rely on that as proof. Review recent chats and sent messages, and change your account password and enable two-step verification if you notice anything suspicious.
A full scan with Microsoft Defender is a sensible next step. Also check Windows Security's protection history, install pending system updates, and avoid opening or running files from the archive unless you know exactly what they are. If the scan finds nothing and you did not open or execute the file, the risk is generally lower.
