Has Anyone Encountered Content Policy Triggers Without Warnings?

Hey everyone, I'm feeling a bit anxious right now. I was chatting with ChatGPT about something personal, and despite being super careful with my language and avoiding any sensitive subjects, I found that the content policy was triggered not once, but three times in this chat. The messages just disappeared with a warning that they were against the policy, even though nothing I said felt explicit or harmful.

After that happened, I backtracked and changed my language, really trying to avoid any potential issues. It's been several hours, and I'm panicking about whether I'll get banned or suspended. I've been using ChatGPT for about a year without any prior warnings or content violations. On top of that, I've never received any emails from OpenAI, not even when I first registered. Is that typical?

I use ChatGPT for my studies, creative projects, and sometimes even for therapy—please don't judge—so I'm quite reliant on it. Have any of you experienced your content triggering warnings without notifications? Have you had your accounts suspended or banned? I'd really appreciate any help or reassurance you can offer!

Don't worry too much! I've triggered those content filters plenty, probably every couple of weeks. Most of the time, it's not even my messages that set them off, but something the AI generates in response. A little while ago, I had it trigger four warnings in a row just because I tried to rephrase my question in a gentler way! Also, if you keep getting warnings in a single thread, consider starting a new chat. It might help reset things.

And regarding your therapy sessions—I've noticed it can react strongly if you switch from a vulnerable topic to something intense. It tries to protect you, but if you bring up the intense topic in a fresh thread later, it’s usually not an issue. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the insight! I totally get that the context can matter a lot. I ended up deleting that conversation because I was worried. Really appreciate the reassurance!
