Help Choosing a Domain Registrar: Cloudflare vs. Porkbun

Hey everyone! I'm a total newbie looking to buy a domain and I'm considering Cloudflare and Porkbun. I found a .uk domain that's pretty cheap—only $5 per year with Cloudflare and $6 per year with Porkbun. I've heard a lot of positive feedback about Porkbun from various discussions, but I'm a bit puzzled because Cloudflare's terms state that you can't use any DNS service other than theirs. Any thoughts or advice on which registrar to go with? I'd really appreciate any help!

I've been with Porkbun and they haven't hiked up their prices on me. Their domain management interface is simple and easy to use, which I like a lot.

Cloudflare is great for me because it easily connects with Vercel and Google Workspace. Plus, their user interface is pretty straightforward, making it easy to manage things.

If you're super new to this, I'd recommend registering through your hosting service. It’ll save you a lot of hassle and confusion, especially as a first-timer!

I was thinking of that! But I’ve got a few months until I start hosting. I want to grab this cheap domain early. Budget is tight since I'm a student.

Just a heads up, Porkbun asks for ID verification, whereas you might find better options with Namecheap or Cloudflare. But honestly, Cloudflare's pricing for the domain you're looking at seems pretty good compared to Namecheap, which can be pricier for new accounts nowadays.

Yeah, I noticed Namecheap is more expensive for that domain. It looks like Cloudflare might be my best bet.

Just to add, Namecheap’s also been asking for ID for many new accounts, so it's becoming less friendly for newcomers.

I personally use Cloudflare since they don’t increase the renewal prices, which is a big plus. It’s nice to know that what you pay now is what you pay later.
