I'm planning my first PC build and expect to use an RTX 5080 with 32GB or possibly 64GB of DDR5 memory. I play CPU-heavy games such as Inzoi, sometimes while streaming with a friend, and I use Clip Studio Paint for several hours a day on a separate drawing display. I also want to return to Blender and regularly use IDEs for schoolwork. My CPU budget is flexible, and I'm open to buying parts from either the US or UK. I initially considered Intel because of its higher core counts, but I don't have much experience comparing CPUs. I currently game around 1440p, depending on the monitor I'm using. What processor would be the best fit for this mix of gaming and creative workloads?

I’m using a Ryzen 9 9950X3D with an RTX 5080 and have been very happy with it. It handles high-resolution editing smoothly and delivers high frame rates at 4K, so it should also be a good fit for Clip Studio Paint, coding, and Blender.
The Ryzen 7 9850X3D is another excellent gaming-focused option and should perform very well with an RTX 5080. However, because Blender and other productivity tasks can benefit from additional cores, a Ryzen 9 X3D model may be the more balanced choice if those workloads will be frequent.
The Ryzen 9 9950X3D is a strong all-around option for this workload. It combines excellent gaming performance with plenty of cores for Blender, high-resolution image work, streaming, and general multitasking. The newer version may offer some improvements, but the standard 9950X3D is still a very capable choice.
For a primarily 4K gaming build, a high-end Intel Core Ultra model such as the 270K Plus could make sense. If gaming performance is the priority at lower resolutions, though, AMD’s X3D chips are worth a close look, including the Ryzen 7 9800X3D or 9850X3D and the higher-core-count Ryzen 9 9950X3D variants.
