How Do I Recover My Accidentally Encrypted Photos and Videos?

I've encountered a frustrating issue where I accidentally encrypted my photos and videos while backing up my iPhone 13 to my computer. I thought this would only keep them private from others, but now I can't access the files at all! I've tried everything I can think of, and I'm really hoping someone can help me figure out how to decrypt and recover my important memories. Thanks in advance!

It sounds like you might have encrypted the backup itself, not just the individual files. If you used iTunes to back up, there should be a password you set for that backup process. You’ll need that password to restore your photos and videos. Have you tried checking if you remember the password you created during the backup? You need it to un-encrypt them.

That's the tricky part! I can't recall the password at all, and I’ve tried a few I normally use, but no luck. Is there any way to reset it?

Another thing to consider is that if you don't remember the password, you might need a third-party tool to help recover your files, but use them cautiously. Make sure to research their reliability first!

Thanks for the tip! I’ll look into those. I just want to get my photos back!
